La petite veste noire

In 1954 Coco Chanel introduced for the first time the piece that would become the cornerstone of women’s wardrobe: black jacket with four pockets, short and profiled. The “petite robe noire”, a stroke of genius that Mademoiselle Coco came after observing the typical Tyrolean jacket lined with woven braids. After more than half a century, this masterpiece is celebrated by a book personally overseen by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld that will be available in bookstores this fall and followsthe eponymous photographic exhibition opened in Tokyo on March 24th. Beyond fashion.
